Overview

The Ellora Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sambhaji Nagar, India. It is one of the largest rock-cut Hindu temple cave complexes in the world, with artwork dating from the period 600–1000 AD, also including several Buddhist and Jain caves.

The complex is a leading example of Indian rock-cut architecture, and several are not strictly “caves” in that they have no roof. Cave 16 features the largest single monolithic rock excavation in the world, the Kailash temple, a chariot-shaped monument dedicated to the god Shiva. The Kailash temple excavation also features sculptures depicting various Hindu deities as well as relief panels summarizing the two major Hindu epics.

Day 1

10:00 PM: Depart from Deccan Bus Stop, Pune via a comfortable AC Push Back Tempo Traveler.
Overnight journey towards Ch. Sambhajinagar.

Day 1

In the morning, we will arrive at Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and we proceed with the hotel check- in. Afterward, we will take a break to freshen up, we will proceed to our journey towards Ellora Caves, where we will explore the Buddhist and Hindu caves. If time allows, we will also visit the Jain caves.
In the evening, we will visit Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga to seek blessings & Ahilyabai Holkar Shivalay Tirth Kund Enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 2

Exploring Ellora Caves pending sites. After breakfast, we will proceed followed by a lunch break. Afterward, we will explore the magnificent Devgiri Fort, Bibi Ka Maqbara, often referred to as the “Taj Mahal of the Deccan”. We will initiate our return journey to Pune marking the conclusion of our wonderful journey.
